Big U.S Conventions

Post by darth_sully on Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:05 pm

I know most people who are on this forum may not be going to any of the Big American Conventions this year but I thought I would start a topic because I AM GOING to two of the biggest Conventions this year ...hoo rah, as you can tell by now I'm excited about going to San Diego Comic Con and then on to Celebration V in Orlando.

I'm heading over with a great friend and we are both looking forward to costuming at both events in our Star Wars costumes, I'll try and post some photos on here while I'm there so you all can see how much fun we are having.

Anyway it would be great to hear if anyone else is planning to make the trip over to America and which Convention you'll be attending.

You already know I'm not going but I just had to comment on how lucky I think you are!
I know you'll have a blast and I look forward to seeing pics from both events

You know how, when you travel, you're obliged to bring back presents for all of your friends?

C5 Swag!

And it's Dragon Con for me. Just booked my extra stay accomodation.

I'll be there from the 31/08 till the 09/09.

Gonna be costuming as GL Guy Gardner, Alan Scott and Golden Age Atom Al Pratt.

Should be fun as it's my 1st big con away from home... and I'm travelling all by myself so's I can's do's what's I like

Hope everyone has a fantastic time at their chosen convention. I've been to lots of Star Trek conventions around Australia over the past 15 or so years, but the biggest and best was the 40th Anniversary Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas in 2006 - it was absolutely brilliant and nerd heaven! I think the Las Vegas Hilton where it was held has taken down all the Star Trek themed stuff now. Dining in Quarks Bar and dancing with little Aron Eisenberg (he of Nog fame, from ST:DS9) in the club section was memorable to say the least! All the ladies dancing with him took off their heels so they didn't look too tall next to him (worked it out afterwards - I'd had a few Warp Drives or whatever they were by that stage!)
Oh I really envy you darth_sully, getting to go to the San Diego Comic Con. I would so love to go to that one! Have a great time!

Well it's another year and big US conventions are rolling around again and guess what..... I'm going again, I'll be doing another double headed but this time it'll be to Celebration VI in Orlando then on to Dragon Con in Atlanta (as it was too long in between SDCC and CVI), all my accommodation is booked and tickets for both conventions have also been booked, there only thing left to do is flights but I am working on something for that will up date if plans fall into place.
