Weird Al Yankovic

Post by xombiekitty on Thu Mar 04, 2010 1:03 pm

Weird Al starts his new tour in June, which started me thinking about all the songs of his that I love, and how everyone I know has different faves by Al. My favourites would have to be eBay, Trapped In The Drive-Thru, You Don’t Love Me Anymore, and White & Nerdy.
There's probably a lot more I should list, but then again I don't want to end up listing his entire catalogue

What songs of Al's does everyone else enjoy?

I like a lot of the Polka medleys he does. It is also mpossible for me to listen to the original Bohemian Rhapsody now without thinking it is too depressing and I need to listen to Weird Al's version immediately.

One of my favorites has to be Do I Creep You Out.

I'm listening to this as I post this post. The guy lip-syncing is kinda weird, but I'm impressed.

I loved his "Those were the Good ol' days" song. It's only when you listen to it that you think "my god this is one twisted dude"

Weird Al, Thou art a GOD!!!

Baring a couple of compilation albums I've got all his CDs as well as quite a few bootleg tracks that I've managed to hunt down on the intarwebs. Of course some idiots will put up any funny song and attribute it to Al which makes tracking down legit (and I say that with only a small sense of irony) songs so much harder.

Of his officially released stuff I did like CNR off the recent Internet Leaks download. Graigslist was nicely done but not super fantastic.

Yoda is and will always be one of my favourites of his. Fat was uber cool too. Angry White Boy Polka is probably my favourite of the polkas so far.

White and Nerdy is possibly one of the best last minute replacements anyone has ever managed. And Donny Osmond on the video is so right it hurts.

I also liked the original track it replaced, You're Pitiful.

I wonder if this means we're due for a new album soon? It's been four years since the last one.

Okay folks, I have the details for the Melbourne show on Wednesday the 23rd of March, 2011, only at this stage.

The timetable for the show, so far, is:
The doors open at 7:30pm.
The show is set to start at 8:00pm.
The show is set to end at approximately 11:00pm.

The cost is $97.90, but I have no idea what that is once they add all the postage, handling & booking fees onto it (grr).
The price has been changed on the site and now reads $99.90
I am trying to find out the maximum people you can purchase for in a group booking, but it seems everyone goes home early in ticket sales o.0

Will update when I have that info Very Happy

Okay, the guy I spoke to was useless... lovely, but useless, lol Very Happy
He doesn't think there will be a limit on the number of people I can buy for, so I am willing to try to do a group booking if people wish.

This is ONLY for the WEDNESDAY THE 23RD OF MARCH 2011 show in MELBOURNE, Victoria, Australia.

If you have purchased tickets to Tron Legacy you know my deposit details, but I will resend if you need them Very Happy
If you haven't grabbed tix to Tron (why not?, lol) then you need to PM me for my bank details.

Please mark your deposits with your username.

If a limit is enforced when I go to purchase tix, I will allocate tickets based on whomever pays first, and so on.
If anyone was unfortunate enough to miss out, I would refund the money without hesitation.
I need all deposits to be made before close of business Friday to ensure that the money clears in time.
Please deposit $100 even to cover guesstimated booking fees (this is a guess, I have no idea what it will work out to be, sorry).

Very Happy woohoo!!! Weird Al!!! w00t!!! Very Happy
... yeah, I'm a little excited!

Being as I am, a poor and impoverished student, two questions spring to mind:

Firstly, is there a concession rate (never hurts to ask)

Secondly, when do you need the money by?

Numerous people are asking for money, some even for such boring things as electricity and rent! So financial juggling is the order of the day.

Unfortunately, no.
There is only the one ticket price available for the entire venue.

I feel your pain!
We have mortgage due, amongst the usual suspects, and the lack of notice for the ticket sales have taken us by surprise too.
I'm sure there use to be months of notice when I was a kid, but now you only get days!

It's just frustrating that I would have missed finding out the details had I not been actively searching for the information.
Even Al only posted the NZ & Oz dates today, lol!

BTW, if you're planning on getting tix through me, please let me know you're a yes by tomorrow (Thurs), even if you're not paying until Friday.
I have organised something but need numbers asap.
