TestSubjectsNeeded.com "The Human Preservation Project"

Post by Lysithea on Thu May 26, 2011 11:28 pm

Speculation has been flying for the past couple of days about some strange advertisements. These ads, which were found in newspapers and comic books, contain morse code or a 2D barcode that leads to

http://www.testsubjectsneeded.com/

Right now you can complete the evaluation (5 multiple choice questions), and upload a photo. If you get in quickly enough and provide a mailing address, you might receive an ID badge in the mail. (Just like the encom id badges in the Flynn Lives ARG)

The budget that must have been required to place all these ads indicate that this is going to be an extensive campaign. Evidence suggests that 42 Entertainment, the team behind the brilliant Flynn Lives (TRON Legacy) and Why So Serious? (The Dark Knight) Alternate Reality Games, is behind this one too. I suggest getting in early. Smile

Has the site stopped accepting new subjects? I just went there and all I get is a constant "Loading..." message.

EDIT: It just took ages to load but it is working.

That is so they can identify the charred mess when all hell breaks loose, which, let's face it, is just a matter of time.

I got a package in the mail....

Post by nilhilius on Sat Jun 18, 2011 4:44 am

I went to the website too and signed up. Today I got a silvery package with a makeshift spinner with a LED attached flashing blue. On the spinner was a QR code and the words "Mission Icefly". A Piece of paper was also inside that said :

"we are both creatures of the senses, you and I - we inhabit the same reality, simmering just below the perceivable world. THE PULSE IS GROWING. CAN YOU FEEL IT?"

You look up the QR code and it goes to a website - missionicefly.com. IT has a countdown clock and a link to a youtube video of more interaction at the Bonaroo Music festival last week.

Will post pictures when I can.

I received my invite at the front of the Los Angeles Convention Center during E3. Some guy dressed like an MIB agent that was randomly handing out black, unmarked envelopes. I got mine walking in and thought it was just another flyer or free swag. Didn't see the site or sign up until a week later Very Happy

Pretty cool so far. That video linked from the QR Code looked amazing. Excited to hear more as this unfolds.

I got my button but it fell apart when I took it out of the packet. I think I put it back together right but....

Does it do anything besides flash? is there a message as it looks like there's a speaker inside.

Brief inquiry, but what do you mean a "speaker"? I'm not quite sure what you mean.

There is a battery, which attaches to the front/top which causes the pulsing light.

There's two washers, and then there's another component, the similar size and shape as the battery, but it has a grill on the top side, like a speaker grill.

*sob*
As was often the case with the Flynn Lives campaign, Zen has received his envelope, but I haven't.
This is despite the fact that I ALWAYS complete these things before him.
Seriously, WTF?! Sad

Something is happenning tomorrow in the US. I got an email saying that if you are in one of the 15 cities listed, you can join in and they will get one volenteer who gets to the location first to receive something to do with the mission.

Also you can chase the Icefly around the website with your mouse. Wheeeee!!!!! Very Happy

The test center on the main website opened today. I'm pretty excited because every time I find out about an ARG, it's already over so this is going to be my first time participating in one.
Apparently there were people in a few cities who found packages that were hidden but I'm not sure what was in them. Also if you enter the test center, this is what you get.

Spoiler:

I guess this is the next step but I have no idea what it means.

I just got an e-mail saying my badge was rejected. I don't think I'm goign to bother resubmitting or trying to prove that I am who I am, or that my photo is not copyright infringement.

Wow, what pic did you use?
I assume it was of you, so I wonder why they nixed it.
No email here, but no badge either.
