Your first album/CD?

Post by mysticalmum on Fri Feb 19, 2010 1:11 am

Was just thinking about the first album I owned, and realised that it was 34 years ago!! The album was a compilation album called Ripper '76 (see above...)

Thought it would be interesting to hear what my fellow geeks started their music collections with!

My first album was actually two albums bought at the same time - "Kiss Unmasked" by Kiss and "Chipmunk Punk" b Alvin and The Chipmunks. They were both on cassette, and set the stage for a life-long music collection of what has been defined as "eclectic" by some and just lain weird by others.

First CD was "Chronologie" by Jean Michel Jarre.

I'll try to update this post tonight with some links.

I *think* the first LP bought for me was Alvin and The Chipmonks - Chipmonk Rock.

I *think* the first LP I bought myself was Nik Kershaw - Radio Musicola.

Sorry... it's a long time ago now, lol Very Happy

I *think* the first CD bought for me was Icehouse - Great Southern Land

I know the first CD I bought was Bon Jovi - New Jersey.

When I was a kid we borrowed LPs from Batman records, so it's a bit hard to recall what I purchased rather than rented, so I only listed what I know I owed Smile

Ha, I have that Ripper 76 album (one I stole from Mum's collection!).

The first album I had bought for me was Terrence Trent D'arby (on cassette), and the first one I bought myself was called I think Hit Pix 88 or something like that, a compilation with "I should be so lucky" and songs like that on there.

The first album I bought myself was Debbie Gibson, Out of the Blue.
And first CD was U2, Rattle and Hum.

Do we want to go as far as first MP3 album bought? Hope not.... mine was the Wiggles...... it was for the kids...... No really. Well my actual first was Leigh Nash, Blue On Blue.

I know what you mean. I just made myself a Dollhouse soundtrack from most of these songs
Most were singles so it was much more expensive, but worth every cent.

I think I had one of those, I had such a crush on the girl with the massive dimples as a youngster, can't remember her name.

Your only as old as you feel, or is it who you feel? I always get confused with that saying.
