DC Universe Online

Post by xombiekitty on Wed Jan 12, 2011 4:07 am

First topic message reminder :

I have been dying for this to be released for the longest time!!!
We played the PS3 Beta thanks to Anestis being kind enough to give us his code (Thanks a bundle, Anestis!)

Today it was released and we're playing on PC Very Happy
ZenBubble has already made two characters and is happily playing.
I'm a gig away from finishing the patch and being able to start!

Who will be jumping onboard with us for some Chaotic Geek DCUO MMO insanity?!

I know Anestis will be playing on PC too! Very Happy
Alas, ctudball will be on PS3 Sad

Anyone interested in playing along with us, let me know!
I can't wait to see CGers in there Very Happy

I've been enjoying playing DCUO, although I have mostly been running around by myself there. I even decided to go for the lifetime subscription. So I will be playing for a while.

I also scored a Hawkman Hoodie for Black Nite. Doesn't he look spiffy? At least black goes with anything. Very Happy

I also have a set of photos on flickr here of all the Heros and Villains that myself and my son have made up.

Level 30 is the current max in DCUO, but it is also when you get to join the JLA!
Tons of new missions and things open up for you too Smile
Oh, and the first monthly update is due soon & will have a Catwoman mission!
Yayayayay!

Nice hoodie Smile Better than the blinding yellow of my Zoom tee Very Happy LOL

I'll be a lifer and online playing DCUO soon. Will have money to pay for the lifetime subscription, as well as the rest of the parts for my gaming PC.

Been sick the last week, and been tidying up for a house inspection over the last three weeks.

Also, been a little depressed so kinda have retreated. *sigh*

Big, big, big *hugs* Anestis.
I know all too well about the black dog, & being sick and stressed won't be helping you at all.
Hope you get well soon, that the inspection is a breeze, and that things look a little brighter <3

Look forward to seeing you online again soon kicking butt Smile

Yes I would love to be part of yor league. You guys are the only others I know on that server.
I've got a couple of heroes on the Darkness Falls server that I'm playing ATM
Miss Mayhem (about Lvl 16)- She is a bit of a lightweight by herself, but I've actually realised she is more of a healer for others in the group.
Inzain - I haven't used him much but he is a bit of a darker Green Arrow.
Almighty Grenge - The most awesome hero of the group. Women Heroes want him and Men Heroes want to be him. Every hero wants to be his friend and he gladly takes them under his wing. Based on actual living persons who really are that awsome in real life, and look the same.*

*NOTE: May contain traces of Bulls#!%. Picture is for illustration purposes only, and may not be the same model as you recieve. Weight distribution may vary.

Nice hoodie Smile Better than the blinding yellow of my Zoom tee Very Happy LOL

I would love to know who I need to kill to get a GL tee. I have seen one person in game with one, and I would have sucker punched him and taken it, But I don't think I had set that keybind.

Hahaha! Almighty Grenge - love it! (& the disclaimer Very Happy )
I wonder if I can send invites to you when you're not online... will give it a go Smile

I saw someone with a GL top right after I started playing.
Zen picked up a Sinestro one last night.
I haven't nabbed any specials in ages so I keep telling him he's greedy Wink

BTW, you all know how much I'm loving this game, but I had to share this vid even though it shreds DCUO... it's just too funny Very Happy

Actually it is pretty hard to find a game that Yahtzee doesn't rip to shreds. I believe the only one he hasn't was Portal.

Lifetime Membership paid for.

Computer parts will be ordered today from Scorptech (mainly because, even though MSY in Canberra are cheaper, their range is limited).

By next weekend, should have new Windows system up and running.

Yay!

I'm usually on some weeknights from around 8pm-ish til shutdown, but then I'm sharing time between both servers. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm on.

After four days it is done. New PC built and running like a dream.

I wanted to install DCUO on the SSD along with the OS, but Windows 7 takes up 23.9 GB of the 51.2 GB of space on the SSD, and DCUO takes up 15 GB, which would have left only 8.9 GB of space on the SSD. Yes, it would seem fine, but consider the original install before patching was 13 GB, and I'm not sure there would have been enough room for the patch files to download.

But anyway, it is done. I have a crappy keyboard and a trackball I'm using, but new mouse and keyboard are only a week away from being purchased.

There was another small update today and I'm soooo happy they fixed the F9 screen capture!
I know it doesn't affect the game play, but it's nice to be able to get nifty shots again... like this Very Happy

Booster was already a part of the game with the exploration information booths, and also with his face plastered over every bit of advertising, but I've been loving that he's in the game proper now since the Valentine update Very Happy
I wonder if he'll remain when it's through?

Re: DC Universe Online

Post by Anestis on Sat May 21, 2011 7:08 pm

Lately I've been unable to login to DCUO. The Launcher would just sit at the SOE screen.

The solution from a Gamespot forum post gave the solution:

Tonight I finally solved the problem, which was outdated URLs in the Launchpad.ini file.

This is the file that’s meant to tell the Launchpad.exe where the latest app data is located as well as the interface code.

So below are the offending two lines that I replaced:

Code:
webapp=http://launch.soe.com/lp3/index.html
digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/manifest/launchpad/launchpad-all/lp3-dcuo-live.soe

And I replaced them with the following lines:

Code:
webapp=http://launcher.station.sony.com/lp3/index.html
digestURL=http://soecontent.station.sony.com/patch/digest/launchpad/launchpad-release/live/launchpad.soe

Now if you’re observant you’ll notice that while there may be some similarities, the domains are totally different!
There was no way possible for the program to function when using entirely wrong URLs.
Thus it could not check for the latest release, could not login, could not do anything other than sit there looking useless.

Started playing DCUO again after the recent megaserver upgrade.

Well worth it. previously, it felt like we (xk and I) were plaing ina network game on our home LAN - there was nobody else around.

Now, when we play of an evening, there are at least 30 people just hanging out in the Justice League Watchtower. We've actuaklly managed to get some of the 4X4 and 8X8 PVP mission out of the way (finally!) because there were other people around to team with.

Fair warning tho - I suck eggs at PVP.
