I'm really excited that you made the switch over to the new forums... I forgot to message everyone before swapping over... whoops!
Feel free to repost any topics from the old forums that got left behind. Unfortunately we couldn't export the forums, and since we thought it would be rude to repost threads by members as our own, many great converstaions got lost in the process of moving.

In time we'll probably add a few more emoticon and avatar options of our own, but we thought the basic ones on offer we're pretty cool
I do find that I really miss my devil emoticon though, so I shall be looking into adding one soon

So glad you like the look of the competition too!

Fluffy_Duck, with the number of sections we have, and the inclusion of a "Random" topic section, it should be easy for people to post relevant information in each area.
The tough bit can be that many things cross more than one area, for example, discussions of Batman...

If you're discussing Batman comics, post in the Reading section, or if you're discussing the animated series, post in the Watching section.
Of course if you start in one area and end up discussing multiple formats, that's perfectly fine
We embrace the Chaotic as well as the Geek here, so it should mean that things stay relevant easily.

That being said, if you post about your cheesecake recipe in the Gaming section, please work very hard at making it relevant or risk it being removed

Well I've just made the swap-over (successfully I hope) and am very interested to have a look around the new forums. It's always interesting to adjust to new systems, and on the plus side here, at least everything is nerdy so it's right up my alley!
Congrats on the massive competition you are running, it looks fabulous. It will surely get people commenting, hopefully the forums will heat up with lots of geeky discussions (maybe a nice friendly discussion about what's better - Star Wars or Star Trek). That one never loses it's appeal!

Well I came to this forum quite refreshed as it now must be years since I made my presence known on a forum outside the Doctor Who Club of Victoria. This forum really just suits me perfectly as the categories split just nicely into their clear topics and everyone here writes with quality and length rather than just post-counting twaddle.

As I post here representing the DWCV, I decided to split my prize unevenly through the Melbourne Science Fiction Club, AusTrek, Star Walking, and of course the Doctor Who Club of Victoria. I am very much for unity in science-fiction fandom in Victoria and Chaotic Geek really have the potential to unite all these clubs and far more online.

I expect this forum will grow, reaching out to the various niches and groups in the nostalgia, collecting and fan communities. Moreover, I love the podcasts and the range of news they present weekly. I hope everyone here spreads the word about this forum to the various club meetings they attend. I only came here thanks to cyspazzz talking about the forum at the MSFC, so word of mouth does work.
