Audio Dramas

Post by Baralier on Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:05 pm

For almost two years I've been running a regular weekly spot that broadcasts some radio drama. Usually I will broadcast a serialised programme over the course of several weeks but some weeks it's just a 1 off.

In the time that I've been doing my spot I have broadcast old radio shows like The Goon Show, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, Mecury Theatre on the Air (playing Orson Welles' War of the Worlds has become a regular thing for Halloween).

There's also been more modern stuff like BBC's Lord of the Rings, Canadia 2056, The Hitchiker's Guide, the Star Wars Radio Plays and I've even put in the odd Audiobook (as opposed to radio play).

Recently I discovered two podcast groups: Decoder Ring Theatre, and the Leviathan Chronicles, both of whom recently gave me permission to rebroadcast. I'm still negotiating with Colonial Radio Theatre On The Air.

Grenge's mention of On The Edge Of Darkness, a podcast I hadn't heard of before, prompted me to start a discussion here.

Do you listed to audio drama of any sort? Old, new, podcast, radio play? If so, what are your favourites or what have you recently discovered?

There was a short audio drama called Two Minute Danger Theatre
It is no longer being made, but it was quite funny. A spoof of old time radio shows and each episode was only two minutes long.

I should also mention 7th Son, If you haven't heard it Go and listen to it now.
